P2P Vicenza, Italy: Day 16

It was time to say goodbye to our home stay families!  Our new bus driver Mario was supposed to pick up Randall, Sabrina, and me before heading to greet the students, but he decided to get them first.  Due to this, we missed seeing everyone's goodbyes.  It sounded like everyone had an awesome time!  Randall and I were very jealous that everyone got a chance to stay with an Italian family for a few days.

One of the best parts of the People to People program is the home stay because it is so unique from any other experience.  The best way to understand a new culture is to live with people to see what daily life is like.

Everyone seemed to really enjoy their Italian family experience!  Kial even asked which P2P programs offer a longer stay!

Once we said our goodbyes, we visited the town of Vincenza, where we had some free time to explore and shop.  I enjoyed sitting at a cafe sipping coffee while people watching.

During our free time, we could tell what an impact the home stay families had on our students from the conversations we had about their experiences.  Vincent was also very impacted by his home stay sister, and I would bet that he will be back for a visit in future years!  Next up was lunch and then swimming with some new Italian friends.  Before lunch, some of our delegates found what I call the American Embassy- McDonald's!

We met our new Italian friends for the day at a health club.  In order to go swimming, we had to wear swim caps!

We are stylin'!

The pool was gorgeous!  There were both indoor and outdoor pools for our use.

After swimming for a few hours, our group danced and played games on the grass.

It was a great afternoon of fun in the sun!  Our next stop was where we would sleep for the night- the city of Padua.  We didn't really see the city as we only had dinner there and then went to our hotel to sleep before heading to Venice the next morning.

Overall, it was a restful day.  We were all very excited to head to Venice in the morning.  Our hotel wa called the "Tulip Inn," and everyone loved it because there was free wifi in the rooms!  It's the small things in life that make us happy!
